In many ways Redford has become the public face of the NRDC; he now sits on the organization’s Board of Trustees. Redford, who describes himself as an “actor/director/conservationist,” has put his name on many op-ed pieces distributed by the NRDC and adds his name to letters and e-mails to the group’s members asking them to take action or contribute money. He has been increasingly visible in promoting the NRDC’s agenda since George W. Bush became president.
